Photography

Due to the weather snowing consistently, I saw that the area I lived in was a fantastic location to put my photography training skills to use. Where I live there are lots of trees, a large lake and field. With the snow and lighting, I was inspired to wonder around and take pictures that I may be able to use for either my digipak or album advertisement.

I decided to become creative testing out different exposures, lighting, shots, focuses and effects. A shot I liked was the over the shoulder shot of the snowman looking unto the field and focuses on specific objects using the three-by-three grid on tree branches etc.

I learned how to be unique and know what to take pictures of testing out different settings to capture different types of lighting. It was a great experience that I will be able to use for my media work.

Illustrator training

I had basic training on Illustrator to create our production logo. Although I had already used Photoshop to create my bands production logo using Illustrator has taught me that for creating a logo it is better than Photoshop. It is a lot clearer and simplistic. When it comes to scaling, if I were to use Photoshop and then later change the size of my logo I may lose the quality whereas the quality would remain the same via Illustrator.

Here is our final product logo

Production logos

We have created draft production logos.

Production company

Qubia Production is a specialist production company in which predominantly produces R' n 'B, Hip Hop and Pop music. We are a new company that has recently signed 'JADE' a new up coming duo girl group with lots of talent. Our aim is to follow the conventional and contemporary style of R' n 'B and Hip Hop as we believe true fans and artists know what they want and want to expect. However our company strives to motivate the R' n 'B culture as it is a genre already leading in the main stream business.

Digipak design

This is the front page of our digipak. We plan to have it as a grey effect for the background however a prop we will have will be nerd glasses. The nerd glasses will be the only thing in colour which is similar to our inspiration research. The band name Jade will be in green as it is relates to green Jade.

As you open the digipak the left side will contain a slide out lyric book with different pictures of the band on there. As you open out the lyric book and turn it over it will be a big poster of the band in full length.
The middle has the CD. The CD design will also be green and grey whilst on the right side there will be a leaflet from our bands concert and advertisement stating a competition for our next music video.

This is the inside digipak

Outside of the digipak

planning for digipak

Our beginning ideas for creating our digipak automatically started revolving around the target audience, for example their wants and needs. We decided a need and want would be basic information on the artists, composers, directors, producers etc as through research this is found usually either on the back or inside cover of digipaks we have researched which are relevant to our music genre and target audience.

We started planning colours and themes, ideas that came to mind where because of the name "JADE" we thought of the idea of green. However because of our music video theme which is the 1990's blind date theme we thought of lots of bright colours.

Through some research we found in some albums they contain an extra pull for a lyrics sheet. Our song is very catchy and fans may want to know the words and sing along. Fans also like something to hold onto so we thought of having on the other side of the lyrics once opened up the fan will also have a long poster of the band.

Research

Alek Keshishidan  born in 1964 in Lebanon was raised in America. Although his father had intentions of him going to study medicine, Alek preferred the performing arts. Having a fascination around the theatre this evolved for his love of music and dance which later became his career as a director for music videos.

Some famous music videos he has directed are mostly Bobby Browns from 'My prerogative' to others such as Madonna's 'Like a Virgin' and many more.

Alek's directing is close to the type of ideology we are trying to pursue and its create. His representation and style would be similar to those of my own.
