Audience research

Our target audience primarily is aimed at teenagers from the ages of 14-18. We aim to get their attention by associating the song and visual narrative to a stereotype theory of teenage girls between the ages of 14-18. I have researched and from my own primary knowledge that young women between these ages have strong interests in music and the opposite sex; they tend to be in to the latest fashion and gossip. Girls at this age are supposed to still be quite young and innocent whoever growing and evolving into mature women therefore the narrative can not be too young but not to mature. We intend to reach out to wider audience to reach beyond our target audience, especially those that were around in the 90's can definitely identify with some of the themes and ideas we have imported into our music video such as our blind date.

I decided to interview a few people that are my target audience with a few questions as secondary research was good however I wanted to make sure myself that my theory of my target audiences wants and needs were met accurately.

Here are some questions I had created for one of my interviewees.

3) What's your favourite hobby?
4) What genre music do you like?
5) What would you say you do most in your spare time?
6) What is the most memorable music video you have seen?
7) Do you watch many music videos?
8) What would you say you like best in music videos? (any examples)

Renee is a prime example of our target audience, she is the right age and has a wide variety of music she likes. She watches music videos all the time and is mostly interested in the entertainment and talent shown within the music videos rather than the narrative. Although she was not interviewed about her style of clothing, I know that she is into the american contemporary fashion of skinny jeans and high top trainers and likes to be very colourful. Her favourite band at the moment are 'The Rangers' and 'New Boyz' which are both 'Jerking Crews' She admits that she prefers to see talent and entertainment in her videos.

I have also asked a Shaquille who is 17 years old. These are the questions I have asked him:

Shaquille is a prime example of the type of audience we are trying to reach out to who is also into the narrative of a music video. He is interested in to mature films such as Baby Boy which as an adult film however although he enjoys a mature entertainment he still enjoys the innocence and fun of children movies such as the Lion King. He is into fashion and understands the different types of fashion etc.

Both Interviewees have a clear concept of modern and old school music, both are into
